Perhaps so many of us bought the Tiger Woods Cougar story because we said to ourselves -- good for Tiger Woods, an intelligent cougar rather than a playful kitten. It was widely reported that he was dating a former ad exec who called herself "The Cougar."
To set the record straight
Despite the cougar story which was linked to his move to lower Manhattan -- it seems that the media was duped, myself included. Although Rick Chandler of NBC sports was suspicious from the onset.
Gone golfing
Had I given it more thought, I might have asked where Woods found the time. He has been playing tournaments, filing for divorce, and taking his children out to lunch. He was at The Barleys last week and now is scheduled for the Deutsche Bank championship in Norton, Mass.
Cougar tale
Nonetheless, I too quoted and linked to Show Biz Spy which noted that Woods was spending his time with a former NYC ad executive in her mid-fifties divorced from a Texas financier.
Hudson Street bachelor pad
The media was also widely reporting that he bought a place on Hudson Street. The more I thought about it, the more suspicious I became. Then came a story that he would be neighbors with Blake Lively. All right, so the neighborhood is up and coming. But then I was reminded of what I told a Realtor once who suggested I buy in an up and coming neighborhood in Cambridge : " I don't want up and coming, I want a neighborhood that has arrived!" And so would Tiger Woods.
So far there seems to be no further verification of either the apartment or the pet cougar.
From what I gather, the closest that Tiger Woods might be to Blake Lively is in this Saturday Night Live Skit -- where she plays none other than Elin.
Until the facts come out, the"sources" may be feeding into our gullibility. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy this spoof and that all is forgiven! If there IS a cougar, I will name names.
