Sandra Bullock and Jesse James, 6 steps key to a second chance

For all couples considering reconciliation after infidelity, not just Sandra Bullock and Jesse James, there are keys to success.   Family Life Drawing Sandra Bullock Back To Jesse James? (Video)

Several days ago I said that the story of Sandra Bullock and Jesse James could well become one of those "choose your own ending" adventures.

Perhaps it is wishful thinking on the part of incurable romantics or plain boredom over the Mel Gibson news, but the news is hot.  Sandra Bullock and Jesse James are reuniting.  Sandra and Jesse are not reuniting.  Which is it?  And why?

(For the different versions of YES and NO, please see stories under related articles.  Keep in mind that many more will surface.)

The real answer remains to be seen, but before a second chance, Sandra Bullock and all couples who have experienced the pain of infidelity should consider these six steps detailed by the MayoClinic.com -- and outlined here. They note

"Recovering from an affair is a difficult and ongoing process. Still, it's possible to survive an affair. Consider these steps to promote healing:

Be accountable

Be honest

Consider shared goals

Consult a marriage counselor

Restore trust.

Forgive

Infidelity is emotionally devastating. Forgiveness isn't likely to come quickly or easily, but it may become easier over time."Infidelity: Mending your marriage after an affair - MayoClinic.com

Whether Sandra and Jesse do attempt to reconcile or not,  these six steps apply to all couples who wish to attempt at restoring their life together again.  The key words are commitment and forgiveness.

Excellent article and appropriate for many of the "ills" that befall married couples, not just infidelity. I thought of an abuse situation I know of while reading your list. It's just as germaine to that. Thanks for a good to-the-point article.

Gossipcop reports the story of them reuniting is utterly bogus, but nice of you to indulge the tabloid lies.

As for disgruntled jocelyn -- what -- Gossicop is now the definite source? I didn't get the memo! Did you read the earlier story? The YES and NO articles will just keep rolling in and rolling along.
