What’s going on with sex these days? Rielle Hunter whispers, “You are so hot” and John Edwards fathers her child. Condoms anyone? Then there is Rick Pitino accused of paying for an abortion. Was she pregnant? Do we know? Condoms anyone?
Let’s not even talk about Mel Gibson’s girlfriend. And what about Jude Law’s new baby? Excuse me – do any of you know how to condom-up?
Companies spend millions of dollars on campaign ads and what messages do young people get from Hollywood and politicians? Adultery and sex – without condoms, of course.
Tinseltown gets behind all of these campaigns to stamp out AIDs, prevent STDs, reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies – but what is the real message? Do as we say, but not as we do.
In Hollywood, people take chances. Why? I think the collective response might be: "We are heros. We have unprotected sex. We like making love-children. We like committed, but unmarried."
As for Rielle Hunter and John Edwards, as I wrote in an earlier piece: Husband snatching facts: why Reille Hunter is angry at Elizabeth Edwards it appears that she believed she had a future with John. And when she came to grips with reality and felt she was not treated fairly in Elizabeth’s book, she decided upon revenge – the paternity test. (Though today we know that she knew, John was the father of her child.) John Edwards: new baby, new Elizabeth heartbreak
As for condoms, I know, guys hate condoms. But here is what our friends from The Frisky tell us in Girl Talk: The Condom Commandments:
Isn't it time we all take the message seriously and condom-up?
Another piece today in line with my "Condom-up" ranting, this from Tinamarie Bernard: The unprotected pickle: politics, power, pregnancy, and absentee condoms (muddled musings)
