Claire Littleton
Claire is the sweetheart of the island who was eight months pregnant when the plane crashed. The kind hearted Australian has been kidnapped by "the others", gave birth to her son in the middle of the jungle and on top of that, she believes she was tricked onto the plane by a psychic that knew it would crash. Naturally Claire has some things to deal with and everyone feels like protecting her almost like a little sister (and in Jack's case, his protective feelings are genetic...)
Reason for travel: When Claire discovered she was pregnant, her boyfriend convinced her to have the baby so they could be a family. Soon after, he got cold feet and walked out on her. Claire was determined to give the baby up for adoption but she saw a psychic who told her she had to raise the baby herself. "Danger surrounds this baby," he said, "it can't be raised by another." But Claire was still determined to give the baby away. Last minute, the psychic told Claire he had found a couple to raise the baby in L.A. He bought Claire a plane ticket perhaps knowing that her flight would crash and she would be forced to raise the baby herself.
Flashbacks: Early flashbacks detail her failed relationship with her boyfriend and her encounter with the psychic. Later flashbacks show a different kind of Claire; a gothy, angry girl working in a tattoo parlor. She crashed her car while she was with her mother and sent her mom into a coma. Claire never really knew her father, but when her mother was first in the hospital, he showed up... her father is Christian Shephard, Jack's father. The two castaways never make the connection while on the island.
Island life: Claire felt a little like an outcast because of her pregnancy and she was terrified about giving birth and raising her child. She became close to Charlie and it seemed as though things would work out. But then the survivors discovered they had a stranger living among them--Ethan, who lived on the island before they came there-- who had a strange interest in Claire. Ethan kidnapped Claire and tried to kill Charlie. Weeks later, Claire resurfaced with no memory of anything since the crash. She gave birth to a son named Aaron, began a complicated and innocent romance with Charlie. In season 4, she was devastated over Charlie's death, but tried to move on. One night in the jungle, she woke to see her father, Christian Shephard holding Aaron. The next morning Sawyer found Aaron but Claire was gone. She was last seen in Jacob's cabin with her father but her status of 'alive' or 'not alive' is a little sketchy.
Post-island life: N/A. Claire did not get off the island and it is still unknown what really happened to her. Although she did make an appearance in Kate's dream where she said "Don't bring him back Kate, don't you dare bring him back," about Aaron.
