I think it's safe to say that Twitter has taken over our culture when a 62-year-old man is "tweeting" to find employment.

Well, that's exactly what former Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is doing, according to a post on ESPN's TrueHoop.
The writer points us to Kareem's Twitter page, where he responds to J.A. Adande's article about who should succeed Phil Jackson as Lakers head coach with these six tweets:

Honestly, I can't blame the guy. His battle to get even an assistant coaching job in the NBA was well-documented, so why not try something new?
Kareem's done a great job bringing the talent out of Andrew Bynum, although we've yet to see it for a full season. But we can hardly blame that on Kareem.
I personally think that there are better candidates out there, but depending on where the Lakers are when Phil finally retires for good, it might be the right time to start fresh with a fresh coach.
And just think, Kareem could be the first coach ever hired via Twitter:

Kareem has absolutely paid his dues to the NBA and would most likely make a great coach. He does appear to be somewhat of an introvert but then too, so does Tony Dungy. I would like to see Kareem get a shot as head coach, few coaches or players for that matter have the knowledge, insight and experience that he has with reference to "how to win a game". Just my two cents!
He is a great person and a great man he deserves to be a head coach. Being an introvert does not mean he should be denied since he coached Bynum to semi-greatness. In my mind there is only one true great Center and that is Kareem.
Kareem is the man for the job. Honestly who else can coach the best team of all time?
How about Kareem as the head coach and magic Johnson as the assistant coach!!!
the capt. has all the experience in the world . but I don't think the players will respond to him. he'd probably make it in the wnba.
