On a magical night in front of a sell out crowd, David Beckham's super goal put away a tough Chivas USA side. The 1-0 game earned crucial points towards the Galaxy's run to the playoffs, and it sent a huge blow to a struggling Chivas squad.
Although Beckham scored the goal to win the game, it was a complete team effort from the get go. Omar Gonzalez led the air tight defense, and Donovan Ricketts again showed why he is one of thee premier goal keepers in the MLS. Mike Magee got the start next to Jovan Kirovski up front, while Landon Donovan and Eddie Lewis roamed the flanks.

The game started out fast, with chances coming at both ends of the field. Maicon Santos and Sacha Kljestan both had attempts for the Chivas, but Ricketts had no trouble thwarting their efforts. The Galaxy’s intentions were made clear when Mike Magee found space in front of goal but shot just wide of the post. He had another great chance in the 30th when he picked up a deflection and fired point blank towards Lance Parker who hit it away. David Beckham’s free kick in stoppage time was en route to goal, but Parker came through again for the Goats.
The precedence was set in the first half, and the game just got better as time went on. Imposing play started from the Galaxy midfield as Beckham and Lewis dominated. The chances came, but it was not until the 80th minute that the goal would light up the Home Depot Center. An impressive throw in from Todd Dunivant would be hit out to the top of the box where David Beckham would be there to strike. He chipped it perfectly off of the turf and 27,000 fans watched as the ball floated ominously towards the far post, hit it and bounced in. The crowd erupted and cheered Beckham’s first goal of the 2009 season. “It's always nice to score a goal and win a game, especially against your rivals” he told reporters after the game.

Amazing night for Galaxy players and fans
An elbow to Gregg Berhalter earned Maykel Galindo a straight red card in the 82nd minute. The LA Riot Squad (Galaxy supporters club) led the stadium in singing “Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye!!!” as Galindo was ushered off the pitch. A yellow card tackle from Paulo Nagamura riled Beckham to the point of restraint, but this was the last bit of struggle from a disappointed Chivas squad. The night ended with 3 points for Los Angeles, and the SuperClasico cup being awarded to the players.
Coach Bruce Arena had nothing but good to say about his inspired club, "Once again, our team continues to make progress. You have to win games like this. This was a tough game and I think our concentration and discipline for 90 minutes was real good."

Or to put what Buck said into Riot Squad terms "Hey, Matthew, thanks for not being a dick."
I was at the game right behind the riot squad and this article is true to the point as I sang along with them one of my greatest soccer experiences
what kevin said is true I was right behind them too and being apart of that just makes the game grander and they're right its nice to see someone write about the LA Galaxy who actually enjoys to be at the game.
Now that's what I'm talking about! Okaaay?!
