past, present, future...
This Sunday, October 19, from
2 - 5 p.m., an art installation created by School of the Art Institute of Chicago student Scott Jarrett will be on display at 2333 N. Milwaukee Avenue.
Jarrett created the piece using salvaged construction materials from the gutting of the building. Materials from the installation will come full circle when they are once again used in the building's transformation into the Logan Square Kitchen, which will be seeking LEED certification in its green rehab.
Logan Square Kitchen, a sustainable urban food facility, is the creation of Logan Square resident Zina Murray. A health scare many years ago caused Murray to rethink her life and way of living, and now she's on a mission to help others live healthy as well.
Logan Square Kitchen will include a kitchen incubator available for rent by the hour where emerging food companies that might not have or be able to afford a kitchen of their own can grow their businesses. A dining room will also be available for rent for private events. Murray is also committed to including a nutrition education component to the project so that others may benefit from her experience.
