Seattle is hungry for Rock N Roll and some groups are delivering. Take The Valkyries for instance: an all-girl band whose aggressiveness sometimes even counters that of their male peers in the scene.
When watching their live show - it's musical chaos. The girls are stomping around the stage, but don't fumble on their instruments. It's not often you see a band that can hold their own on their instruments of choice and provide eye-catching stage presence.
With a new CD out: ten songs recorded in four days, a rather powerhouse way to do it, but they clearly did not go wrong. These girls are playing punk infused rock and not taking any prisoners. Not taking the predictable sweetness and light approach to their obvious gender, it's nice to be allowed to forget that this is a male dominated genre. Surely things will change soon. At least we have this band's tour and release schedule to look forward to.
