New York's Finest: Page Hamilton celebrates 20 years of Helmet

http://www.helmetmusic.com

Page Hamilton, frontman for alternative metal band Helmet, has decided to celebrate his band's 20th anniversary by venturing into the world of modern art.  Working with Los Angeles company, Scene Four, the project titled “Close to Home” will combine handwritten lyrics, graphic art and paint into a canvas series consisting of a limited 200 drafts.

Founded in New York in 1989, Helmet greatly distinguished themselves for their style of guitar riffs which popularized Drop-D tuning.  The band released four albums up until 1997, when they broke up.  Hamilton resurrected Helmet with other members in 2004, and they've since released another two studio albums.

Speaking to Examiner.com about the “Close to Home” project, Studio Four creative director, Cory Danziger had the following to say: “It's been fantastic; Page is an exceptional guitar player and visionary in terms of the sounds that Helmet has produced, and we specialize in essentially working with musicians to create their vision and put it on the canvas. Page has done an exceptional job of doing that.”

Close to Home” will be released to the public on October 31st. Initially, 100 copies will be available for sale, with another hundred following in 2010. For more information, visit www.legacyofhelmet.com
