In the years since their inception, The London Souls have garnered a reputation for their high-energy shows, as evidenced on their Youtube channel. Their lively and spirited music is the result of a combination of rock, blues, funk and soul. Also, being a three piece band, it is inevitable to compare them to other power trios of the Classic Rock era, such as Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Guitarist/vocalist Tash Neal, who vaguely resembles Hendrix, has a vocal style reminiscent of funk legend, Sly Stone. The band's rhythm section - composed of bassist/vocalist Kiyoshi Matsuyama and drummer/vocalist Chris St. Hilaire - lays down a solid foundation of groove and power. When listening to The London Souls, without even realizing it, you find yourself bopping your head to their irresistible rhythms and infectious energy which recalls the stamina of the MC5's blues-rock.
The London Souls began in New York in 2005. The band has yet to officially release an album, but according to different sources on the web, they are currently preparing what will eventually become their debut LP. Their track “Someday” was included in The Green Owl Comp: A Benefit for the Energy Action Coalition, and is available for download via iTunes.
