Singer/songwriter Susan Barth's latest album, Songs From the Suburbs, features eleven tracks of her most honest music.
This album is her fourth full-length release and her most soulful yet. The combination of smooth vintage pop and contemporary vocal ideas revive a long lost genre that Barth recreates with her own style. Her distinct, soft voice over slow tempo jams brings out a plate of emotion for the listener. A true calming feel resides in the atmosphere of the music.
Songs like "One More Year" and "Sundays" exude up tempo pop very reminiscent of alternative rock while ones like "How it Goes" and "Wrong" convey intricate down tempo acoustic guitars that provide and antithetic atmosphere, but one of uttermost musicianship honesty.
The various instrument implementation of strings, keyboards, mandolins, guitars, and others provide a very eclectic compilation for any pop-going listeners. Songs From the Suburbs is a charming album that will meet the Beatles fans' fixations of similar music from that era and style.
