Angels and Airwaves, Meese and more: Denver live music weekend picks May 21-22

It's a very busy weekend for live music in Denver--lots of great shows to choose from, especially on Saturday. This list is far from exclusive, but here are just a few of the more promising events happing this weekend.

FRIDAY, MAY 21

Local post-punk band The Photo Atlas is headlining a show at the Bluebird Theater, 3317 E. Colfax in Denver. Also appearing are The Moog, Epilogues and The Shake Up Brigade.  Tickets are $8, plus service charge, available from AEG Live. Doors at 8:30 PM; show starts at 9:00.  Ages 16+.

Denver acoustic pop/rock artist Tyler Stanfield is holding a CD release party at Meadowlark Bar, 2701 Larimer in Denver. Also appearing are Jack Hadley and Jace Hill. Cover charge applies at the door; show starts at 8:30 PM. Ages 21+.

SATURDAY, MAY 22

The Fifth Annual Bob Dylan Tribute/Birthday Bash is being held all afternoon and evening at the D-Note, 7519 Grandview in Olde Town Arvada. Festivities start at 4:00 PM with local artists performing acoustic covers of Dylan songs, and at 8:00 PM, tribute band Dylan66 will perform, in entirety, the albums Blood on the Tracks and Highway 61 Revisited. There's a $10 cover for the 8pm show; afternoon show is free! This is an all-ages event.

Alt-rock band Angels and Airwaves is appearing at the Fillmore Auditorium, 1510 Clarkson St. in Denver, along with Say Anything. Tickets are $26 plus service charge, available from LiveNation. Doors at 7:00 PM; show starts at 8:00.  Ages 16+.

Denver pop/rock band Meese is doing a show at the Bluebird Theater, along with The Northern Way and Churchill. Tickets are $12 plus service charge, available from AEG Live. Doors at 8:00 PM; show starts at 9:00. Ages 16+. NOTE: Due to the Meese boys switching gears, this is Meese's final performance in Denver. Stay tuned...

Local alt-country band The Hollyfelds is holding an EP release party at Meadowlark Bar. Helping them celebrate are Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams, plus GT and the Sidewinders. Doors at 8:00 PM; cover charge applies. Ages 21+.
