Busdriver hi-jacks hip hop

Associated Press.

I first saw Busdriver open for Coco Rosie in Seattle in 2006. The indie-tronic duo with high-art sensibilities does not ask no second-rate artist to tour with them. Coco Rosie always hand selects their touring partners with great care. Busdriver is no exception.

Busdriver answers the hyper-information age with hyper-intellectual lyrics he spits at hyper speed. Busdriver doesn't just redefine hip hop. He has hi-jacked the genre and is taking it on a joyride through tongue-tying, paradoxical literary criticism, social awareness, and witty word play. He plays with words the way only wordsmiths can dream and he spits his rhymes a thousand words a minute.

Busdriver came of age and produced his first album as a teenager during the LA Riots. His voice was unique in the mid-nineties west coast hip hop scene. Instead of spouting off rhymes about his gat and the police, Busdriver instead entertains us with metaphors and allegories about the modern era, your job, and the crazy culture that spawned the LA Riots.

Now, blossomed into an adult, Busdriver's lyrics have a maturity and an intelligence unrivaled in the songwriting world. He is our modern-day pest of the intellect, and speaker of the streets.

Busdriver will blow your mind with the speed at which his intelligible and intelligent lyrics stream from his mouth. He'll make your legs shake at a rate unprecedented to date.

I'd like to see an aerobics class try to keep up with him.

If you don't get your work out in before Friday night, go to the Urban Lounge and exercise your ass and mind simultaneously to Busdriver's lucid lyrics and fast beats.

Also, you should get English credit for attending his concert.

Busdriver has hi-jacked hip hop. Hop on and enjoy the ride. But where he's going, there are no roads.
