10.Rain (from the album Erotica)-A yearning ballad that is drenched in some of Madonna's most emotional lyrics. The song is a spiritual awakening of sorts. "I'd wait for all the dark clouds bursting in a perfect sky. You promised me when you said goodbye. That you'd return when the storm was done. And now I'll wait for the light, I'll wait for the sun..."
9.La Isla Bonita (True Blue)-One of Madonna's most well known songs, this pop single paid homage to her Italian roots. The song stands out for it's striking drum beat and it's upbeat tempo. "Last night I dreamt of San Pedro. Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song. A young girl with eyes like the desert. It all seems like yesterday, not far away." Madonna relishes performing the song live and it has had many incarnations over the years.
8.The Power of Goodbye (Ray of Light)-The single that gave Madonna a career resurgence. It marked the beginning of her turn towards electronic dance music. This song stands out for it's epic use of violins and the sonically pleasing chorus. "There's nothing left to try. There's no place left to hide. There's no greater power than the power of goodbye."
7.Gone (Music)-"Selling out is not my thing. Walk away. I won't be broken again. I'm not. I'm not what you think." One of her best ballads to date, but sadly too short. The song leaves you yearning for more. It is a simple acoustic song that pulls it's lyrics from the pages of Madonna's own complicated life story.
6.Papa Don't Preach (True Blue)-Madonna's controversial pro-choice single. It is still as relevant today and still packs the same hard punch. "Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep. Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep, but I made up my mind - I'm keeping my baby, I'm gonna keep
my baby!"
5.Get Together (Confessions On A Dance Floor)-An amazing up tempo electronic dance song. It features a wonderful pumping bass line. " Do you believe that we can change the future? Do you believe I can make you feel better?"
4.Holiday (Madonna)-One of the best known dance/pop songs of all time. This is the single that truly made Madonna. "If we took a holiday! Took some time to celebrate! Just one day out of life! It would be! It would be so nice!" The song is simplistic, but it's party lyrics make it one that appeals to the masses. It makes you happy as soon as you hear the first beat.
3.Like A Prayer (Like A Prayer)-Another controversial single with it's religious implications and gospel-infused sound. Musically, it is the highlight of Madonna's career. "I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing. I have no choice, I hear your voice, feels like flying."
2.Nothing Fails (American Life)-Another euphoric gospel-themed track. Unfortunately, this gem was overlooked as the album went unnoticed because of the poorly received title track. The song is a sweet sentimental track that speaks of her love for her husband. "You could take all this, take it away. I'd still have it all. Cause I've climbed the tree of life. And that is why, I'm no longer scared if I fall."
1.Into The Groove (Desperately Seeking Susan Soundtrack)-A true classic, the song is one of Madonna's biggest and catchiest hits. With a bouncy beat and infectious lyrics, the song never fails to make me smile. "Music can be such a revelation, dancing around you feel a sweet sensation. We might be lovers if rhythm's right, I hope this feeling never ends tonight. Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free. At night, I lock the doors where no one else can see. I'm tired of dancing here all by myself, tonight I wanna dance with someone else!"

Comments
Great list. My opinion is that Madonna has always kept her best tracks unreleased as singles.
1. Madonna - Stay
2. Erotica - Why's it so hard/In this life
3. Bedtime Stories - Forbidden Love
4. Ray of light - Sky fits heaven
5. Music - Paradise
6. American Life - Nothing fails
7. Confessions - Forbidden Love
8. Hard candy - Beat Goes on
normally most aritists don't do this, they only have very few killer tracks and all will be released as singles., all the others are just fillers. thats the difference of M.
Bravo
PAPA DON'T PREACH WAS ACTUALLY CONSIDERED A PRO-LIFE SONG BY A PRO-CHOICE ARTIST. IT WAS OFFENSIVE TO SOME FEMINISTS AND ENDEARED HER TO THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT FOR A SHORT TIME. I'M KEEPING MY BABY, (NOT ABORTING IT) GET IT?
Jith-That is true. Many of her unreleased tracks are better than the singles.
Earle-That is true that she was criticized by some feminists but she has always stated that the song was mean to be pro-choice.
the song is still fantastic, and was only outshined by the dance moves she worked in that little black number with the bleached blond hair. gotta love her
