Looking for something different - Check out this rockin' Christmas display

Many people still enjoy the tradition of driving around to look at all of the Christmas lights. If you would like to see something out of the ordinary this year, make the short drive to Forney for a holiday treat. The Forney Light Show is a computerized Christmas extravaganza synchronized to some rockin’ Christmas music. The Mathis family’s display, which began in 2006 with 300 lights, has grown every year. This year the display incorporates over 76,000 lights and over 1.5 miles of extension cords. Their giant tree is 40 feet tall, with a two foot star. Both music and video have been incorporated into their Christmas decorating. There is a large video screen in the center of the presentation. You can see videos of past year’s Christmas and Halloween displays on their website http://www.forneylightshow.com/video.php.

The show starts on the half hour from 6 - 10 pm, Sunday through Thursday, and from 6 - 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. The theme of this year’s show is “Deck The Halls”. When you arrive, tune your radio to 87.9 FM to hear the show. The show will be cancelled any night that it is raining, or there is any sort of precipitation.

The Forney Light Show is collecting food for the New Life Pantry in Forney. They also sponsored a toy drive during the first part of the month. This family is doing more than their share in trying to make this a Merry Christmas for all. While in Forney, if you happen to see any of the family members outside, while touring their home, be sure to stop and say "hello".,
