Aragon Ballroom show part of band’s brief tour in support of 'Raditude'
Weezer’s latest concert tour swings through Chicago next week when the band plays at the Aragon Ballroom on Tuesday, December 1.
Weezer’s new album, Raditude, is a bit of a departure from their earlier work, featuring songs that add Indian instrumentation (“Love is the Answer”) and rap (“Can’t Stop Partying,” featuring Lil Wayne) to their pop-rock sound. The first single, “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” is #2 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart.
Raditude contains a number of melodic, get-stuck-in-your-head tunes. Some long-time fans are disappointed with the band’s direction towards disposable pop music, but let’s be honest, Weezer has always been about catchy pop songs. What do you call “Buddy Holly”?
Opening the show at the Aragon Ballroom will be two underrated emo-pop acts, Motion City Soundtrack and Jack’s Mannequin. Tickets for the Weezer concert are available through Ticketmaster. Doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm.
