Mike Posner with Big Sean at Brandeis University

The ladies love Mike Posner. Heck, the guys love Mike Posner. Who is he? This singer, songwriter and producer, hails from Duke University and recently signed a deal with J Records (RCA/Sony). Mike Posner is currently headlining his own club tour, featuring stops at various college campuses to promote his music that has spread like wildfire through iTunesU. Students at Brandeis University were out in full support of this emerging artist, last night. If you squint your eyes and tilt your head to the side, Posner almost resembles a taller Justin Timberlake. If you listen, he even sounds a little like JT. That is, if Justin Timberlake sang about hoes, weed and ‘First Date Sex.'

But don’t let the party lyrics fool you, Mike has worked hard to get where he is now. Finishing school a semester early, with a GPA of 3.5, Posner spent time outside of class, grinding to make his music. Last night, the 22-year-old had complete control of the audience, the lyrics relating directly to college life. Middle fingers in the air, he performed hits from mixtapes, A Matter of Time and One Foot Out the Door. When the beat cut out, everyone in that room screamed the lyrics back at him. He already has a large following. Girls melted when Posner reached out and touched their hands. Even the staff at the Levin Ballroom was getting down to the sampled beats and somewhat raunchy lyrics from this hit-maker.

Mike Posner’s debut album is due to drop this summer. You may have seen his performance on Last Call with Carson Daly in October. He has been featured in a number of recent publications: URB (cover), XXL, Vibe, The New York Times and The New York Post. He’s making moves and this is only the beginning. Tour mate, Big Sean, is the newest artist signed to G.O.O.D. music and he proudly shared that he will be on the cover of XXL magazine next month. Together they bring innovation and a fresh approach to the pop/rap game. In addition to his club schedule, Mike Posner will be on the road with the Vans’ Warped Tour this summer.
