Robin Thicke brought some sexy to the Boston House of Blues last Tuesday night. He is currently on the Freedom Tour with Alicia Keys, but also doing some dates on his own. Boston was treated to the sultry sounds of his newest album, Sex Therapy. Soft spoken, but oozing confidence, Robin Thicke sang crowd favorite, “Lost Without U”, the high energy “Shooter” and others. At times, Thicke’s voice was overpowered by his band, but the couple standing next to me didn’t care. They were in their own world, making out the entire show - not even looking up the stage once. Thicke’s music has that effect on people. Looking for a little crotch grabbing and some moaning? Thicke is your man. Robin and his band put the crowd in the mood and even a few technical difficulties with the piano didn’t slow down the pace of the show.

Waiting outside in the pouring rain, were two adoring fans, who were practically holding back tears when asked about their favorite artist. Akila Reeves from Boston said, “I love Robin Thicke, because he’s so awesome. His voice is so nice and I love his music. He’s soulful, but then he adds a lot of R&B. I want him to divorce his wife and marry me.” There should be audio attached to this, because this short quote does not give her excitement justice. Her friend Helen was just as thrilled, “I love Robin Thicke, because he’s amazing! I love the lyrics he writes. I love him and I love him and I just love him.” They love him.

The heart of this band (or any band) is the drummer. Boston’s Live Music Examiner did a photo spotlight on Vater Percussion artist, Lawrence ‘LB’ Breaux. LB is a live, studio, national, and internationally touring musician, who has also graced the stage alongside: The Pussycat Dolls, Nikka Costa, and Lindsay Lohan. Breaux plays with extreme intensity and passion, letting his personality shine from behind the drum set. The band as a whole had great chemistry and as a spectator, you could see how much they were enjoying themselves on stage. Lawrence (or as Robin called him, “Mr. Muscles”) lip synched behind Thicke, doing a Stevie Wonder impersonation during some of the ballads – quite the showman. Check out a ton of images shot before the show, as well as, a few from the first two songs.
