Magus Books, my favorite used book store in Seattle

Easily one of my favorite bookstores, especially in the category of used books, is Magus Books. Magus Books is located in the University District right off of the Ave on 42nd NE Street. It is a very slender store and can easily be missed if you aren’t looking carefully. Students will certainly recognize it as they most likely pass it on a daily basis. Speaking of students, any literature book you may need for a class, you can surely find in Magus books. A good number of students sell their literature books to Magus at the end of the quarter so you can find these novels for usually around two or three bucks!

Magus is one of those magical little bookshops where you find yourself getting holed up inside for hours without even noticing the time pass. The selection is incredible. They’ll almost always have what you are looking for and plenty you didn’t know you were looking for! They have old copies of books, rare books, fairly recent releases, everything!

For some reason, I absolutely love their window displays. For African-American History Month, they had a fabulous display of interesting and rare books on the subject. A beautiful old hardback biography of Jackie Robinson in particular caught my eye. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and they let you rummage through the place for hours! Even the building has an old school, brick vibe to it. In the Fall, the most gorgeous multi-colored ivy grows all along the side of the building.

If you are ever in the U-District, or are just in the mood for getting lost in a good, old-fashioned bookstore, check out Magus Books. It will be worth your trip!
