This week is Independent Bookstore Week in NYC, so support your local bookstores and buy some books!
In honor of the celebration, there are many events taking place at local stores including author signings and much more. Some events taking place this week include Storytime with Thad Krasnesky, author of I Always, Always Get My Way. This children's book is all about Emmy, a three year old who gets what she wants. It is filled with colorful illustrations that bring little Emmy to life. The event is today, at 4:40pm at the Bank Street Bookstore (2879 Broadway/212-678-1654). Other events today include a book signing with Steve Shelly at the Drama Book Shop, and a Conversation with Tony Fletcher and Jim Fouratt at the Strand Bookstore.
The IBNYC is a group of booksellers that partner together to promote the culture of independent bookstores in NYC, and their contribution to the city of New York. They also work hard to raise awareness of the diversity of bookstores that the city has to offer.
