The picture of the student with a huge sandwich is a screenshot from a spoof of the Old Spice commercial that applies its "Man your man should smell like" and "Smell like a man, man" messages to studying in the library to get better grades. More about that later.
First, you can donate and buy like a booklover, booklover. An important message for friends of literature and literacy in New Orleans is that tomorrow, Satudray, July 17, Friends of the New Orleans Public Library will hold its regular booksale from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Latter Library Carriage House, 5120 St. Charles Ave. Call 504-596-2625 for more information or visit the New Orleans Public Library's website,www.nutrias.org. Money from these sales helps the library with rebuilding efforts, per its donations FAQ.
NOPL has been overwhelmed by the generosity of people across the country who have donated an estimated 3 million books — we lost count! — of all kinds, conditions, and subjects. We are grateful for these continuing donations, which help to put books back into the hands of New Orleans families. Books that we cannot use are sold; since mid-2006 we have earned over $100,000 from book sales for our Rebuild Campaign!
We still need your help, but please avoid sending books directly to NOPL. Instead please consider the alternatives suggested in the FAQ below.
... If you are in the New Orleans area with used books to donate, please bring them to the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library book sale at Latter Memorial Library. ... please try to bring the books to the back door entrance of the Latter Branch at those times.
If you are outside New Orleans, please send your book donations to Better World Books (BWB). This company can process and sell many more books than can NOPL, and will give us a share of the proceeds. BWB will accept all pre-paid book donations, but we encourage you to follow its guidelines at www.betterworldbooks.com/programs/RebuildNOPL.aspx. Remember to mark your boxes "Rebuild NOPL"!

Speaking of libraries, the following spoof of the original Isaiah Mustafa Old Spice commercial advertises the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University in Utah. While it's not about a New Orleans library or literature, you may appreciate it if you're a booklover who's seen the Old Spice commercials. The spoof was produced by BYU's Multimedia Production Unit and is called "Study like Scholar, Scholar."

I like the video-it's a good parody.
