Celebrate Frost Day in New Hampshire

Photo thanks to The Robert Frost Society

This year, Frost Day, the official New Hampshire celebration of Robert Frost lands on July 5th. While vacation plans might clash with the holiday, Frost Day is the perfect celebration to follow the raucous of fireworks and barbeques.

Robert Frost lived, taught, and summered in the Granite State. There quite a few locations around New England that honor the poet; but there are two core museums that preserve and celebrate Frost in New Hampshire. The Robert Frost Farm in Derry and The Frost Place in Franconia are popular day trip locations to unwind and investigate the beloved poet’s past. Both locations are surrounded by natural beauty and are well worth the trip despite the history.

While no official celebration has been posted for the Derry location, The Frost Place will be holding their annual celebration starting at 2 PM. The museum invites the public to a reading and open house. Enjoy tales from a “storyteller extrodinare”, Willem Lange and a reading by resident poet Rigoberto González. Refreshments will be served.

If you’re planning on a quiet Sunday in, why not take a look at a good anthology of Frost’s poems. A wide collection of his poems are available online, including this website.
