DAN AYKROYD
Local Bay Area screenwriters Dan Pavlik and Dave Baptist have written a script entitled Nominated, and it’s beginning to gain a lot of buzz. How much you may wonder? Well, the legendary comedic actor Dan Aykroyd is considering signing on to the project.
Here’s the premise: Mickey Monroe, a former television child-star turned Hollywood train-wreck, becomes nominated for an Oscar. He played a role in an independent film nobody’s seen. His agent, Blake Dunbar, wants to sign deals in the wake of the nomination, but knows he’s got little time before Mickey self-destructs. So Blake exiles Mickey to Arnold, the little town in the Sierra foothills, hoping that Mickey can get some R’N’R while projects get lined up. But does that happen? Of course not.
Nominated was submitted to the Nichol Fellowship. The MPAA conducts this cinematic competition for unproduced works. Out of 5,200+ entries, Nominated made it to the round of 261, which is certainly a huge achievement.
Here’s how you can support the literary-cinematic cause: Merely visit the Fremont wine bar, VIDA y VINO, and order a “flight” of wine (a group of 3-4 glasses of wine) called the “Director’s Cut Flight” (which includes a chardonnay, a pinot, a cabernet and a zinfandel from the Coppola Winery). Proceeds from the sale will go toward the movie!
