The new Litquake

In case you haven't been paying attention: the world's largest literary festival is growing like a pesky adolescent. This might be fitting, as Litquake celebrated its 10th year last October. For its 11th it not only has a brand new website, with media, pertinent news feeds, quotes from attendees and ways to get involved, but the ambition to host and co-organize events throughout the year.

Part of this new Litquake is a series of author dinner soirees. I was able to attend the last one, held on Sun May 22 at Nina Lesowitz's beautiful home in Piedmont, with Ishmael and Tennessee Reed, Bharati Mukherjee, and Clark Blaise. This series is a chance to meet some acclaimed authors and hear them read in an intimate setting … maybe 25-35 people were in attendance, so you really have the chance to engage authors in conversation.

I was transitioning from one camera to an upgrade and didn't have the power to record all the readings. I hope you enjoy what I did get!
