WWE RAW is on it’s final stop on the road to Wrestlemania 30 tonight at 7PM CST / 8PM EST on the USA Network with an all-hands-on-deck live episode featuring WM30 host Hulk Hogan, the Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena, and many more superstars. This is one of the most important ‘RAW’ broadcasts of the year, as it has the hefty task of putting over the biggest WWE event of the year, which is compounded this year by it being the first major event on the new WWE Network subscription service. Pro Wrestling Exmainer runs down what to expect on this pre-Mania RAW.
Daniel Bryan goes for the gold at WM30
Daniel Bryan needs to say ‘No’ to his Wrestlemania foes and ‘Yes’ to the millions of fans who have joined the Yes Movement tonight in Washington D.C. Expect the WWE Universe’s bearded hero to return after missing last week’s RAW in Brooklyn due to a savage handcuffed attack he endured from WM opponent and corporate authority Triple H. If DBry can upset the Game, he then qualifies for the WWE title bout between mega-egos Batista and the reigning champ Randy Orton. So with obstacles laid directly in his path to career-defining glory, Bryan needs to pull off a General Patton level performance tonight on the microphone or a Rocky Balboa underdog tour de force in the ring.
WWE World Heavyweight Randy Orton
Big Dave Batista brings his skinny jeans and bad attitude to his hometown tonight on ‘RAW’ but since his character change to self-absorbed heel a few weeks ago, he will not be greeted by the DC fans as a hometown hero. The Animal will once again be gloating and showboating (possibly in another ridiculous outfit) but after he laid out the WWE World champ last week, wrestling logic dictates that the champ Orton must get his mojo back on Batista this week. If you factor in that, Triple H is also position to possibly retrieve the title in New Orleans on Sunday, this is a tension-driven situation on RAW with four semi-trucks roaring down the same expressway.
the John Cena / Bray Wyatt gumbo has to stay spicy for cajun country's Wrestlemania
Bray Wyatt with help from his brainwashed minions Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, left Brooklyn last Monday with the momentum heading into the biggest match of his young career against the franchise player John Cena this Sunday at WM30. The creepy scene of the once untouchable Cena wrapped up in the ropes with a sheep mask and Bray shouting his diatribe was an visually impactful for this potential ‘Mania show stealer. Cena needs to his Cenation behind tonight, while Wyatt continues look like a legitimate challenger with the 14-time World Champion.
The Undertaker defends the streak at WM30
The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar had a show-closing segment last week, that was received with mostly mixed reviews from fans and critics so this week these two dogs got to show their teeth in their hype segment. Both men are scheduled officially by WWE to appear along with Lesnar’s manager Paul Heyman. Lesnar who is a real fearsome force as a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, was a victim to the Deadman’s smoke ‘n mirrors tricks on RAW. The Beast will respond, and it will be brutal. Lesnar tries to beat the Undertaker’s 21-0 Wrestlemania undefeated streak at WM30 this Sunday.
Also on the spectrum of WWE action, the Shield with the fans behind them roll onto the Big Easy but their opponents in the veteran trio of Kane and the New Age Outlaws will make it known they are not pushovers. While in the tag team division, WWE Tag Team Champions the Usos will face three teams in a Fatal 4way Tag Team title match at WM30. This cluster of duos should see some in-ring sample on RAW in American capital.
Plus there are 30 superstars fighting in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, so that means a giant brawl is almost a given on RAW before the night is through.
