WWE 'Monday Night Raw' recap: The Undertaker returns on Old School Raw

The WWE often likes to take things back a step, and that is what they did on the evening of Monday, March 4, 2013, when they went "old school." WWE "Monday Night Raw" was themed with the days gone by and had a night devoted to everything that was indeed "old school Raw." Things got off to a fast start with the old intro and then the far too familiar gong of the bells.

As the gong goes off, the Undertaker walks out, but then another intro is shown, and he is gone. The giant old school "RAW" letters are on the stage as Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler come out in old attire. With that, things are ready to get started.

~ CM Punk comes out and says he wants to challenge the Undertaker at "WrestleMania." Then Randy Orton says he wants to and so do The Big Show and Sheamus. Vicki Guerrero says the main event tonight is a fatal four-way with the winner facing Undertaker at "WrestleMania."

~ Ryback defeats Antonio Cesaro: The match isn't too bad, and Cesaro gets some offense in, but can the U.S. Champion ever win? The finishing sequence is nice as Cesaro sets up the Neutralizer, but Ryback picks him up for the Shellshock and the win. Mark Henry comes out and stares at Ryback as they pass each other.

~ Mark Henry squashes Zack Ryder: This match saw a few punches from Ryder, and then he was destroyed.

~ Dolph Ziggler, AJ, and Big E are talking with The Miz in the ring. Miz introduces Ric Flair as his mentor.

~ The Miz defeats Dolph Ziggler: It's not a bad match and it sees interference from everyone outside, but it was expected that Miz would win with the figure four. Are they building toward Ziggler continuing a huge losing streak before cashing in the briefcase because they are booking him awfully.

~ The Rock comes out and then so does John Cena. They both talk for a really, really long time about their match at "WrestleMania." It's a really good promo from both men, but incredibly long.

~ Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeats Jack Swagger by disqualification: This was just to get Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, and Dusty Rhodes on camera. Swagger nailed Duggan with the 2x4, and that's about all she wrote.

Backstage, Swagger is being interviewed with Zeb Coulter before Alberto Del Rio attacks him from behind.

~ Team Hell No defeats the Primetime Players: This was nothing more than a glorified squash match. The best part was the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase getting in the ring after the match and shoving a $100 bill in Darren Young's mouth. After that, Daniel Bryan jumped in and stole it.

~ Brodus Clay and Sweet T (Tensai) defeat 3MB: Honky Tonk Man came out with the dancing duo, and they quickly won the match very easily. Another legend gets the spotlight as Honky Tonk mails Heath Slater with a guitar after the match.

~ Kofi Kingston comes out for his match, but Fandango refuses to wrestle because Justin Roberts did not pronounce his name correctly. He says it is close, but everyone will have to wait for his official debut.

~ Triple H comes out to the ring and simply calls out Brock Lesnar for a match at "WrestleMania." He wants Lesnar in the ring and was happy to make him bleed last week, and he will be happy to do it again. Now, he wants to know Lesnar's answer to his "WrestleMania" challenge.

~ The Shield plot shenanigans.

~ Alberto Del Rio defeated Wade Barrett: Not a bad match at all with both men getting in a good amount of offense. There was no way in hell that Barrett was winning though. Swagger does come out during the match, but doesn't really interfere. The "WrestleMania" opponents have a stare down after the match.

~ New Age Outlaws defeat Primo and Epico: The NAO do their old school intro, and then make quick work of Primo and Epico. Interesting how the WWE completely embarrasses almost their entire tag team division with guys that haven't been in the ring for years.

SEE: Glenn Beck is challenged by the WWE

~ Mean Gene Okerlund is out with almost the entire WWE locker room for Mae Young's 90th birthday. CM Punk and Paul Heyman interrupt it to get to the ring for the main event.

~ CM Punk defeats Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The Big Show: This was actually one of the better fatal four-way matches that have gone down in quite some time. It was kind of obvious that Punk was going to win, but everyone kept it interesting.

After the match, the lights go out, and the Undertaker comes out onto the entrance ramp for a stare down with Punk as flames erupt.
