World Rat Day raffle to benefit rat rescue

The Travelin' Rat is having a raffle for The Travelin’ Rat is a very small organization whose mission is to help animal rescues in any way they can, especially those rescues which take in rats. The Travelin’ Rat assists animal rescues in a variety of ways: fundraising efforts, spreading the word when rescues need assistance, helping with rescue transports and sitting with a rescue pet at an animal event are just some of the ways that The Travelin’ Rat is able to offer assistance.

Profits from items that The Travelin’ Rat sells online are donated to a different rescue every month, so the organization is having the raffle to help cover their own costs, such as government fees (ironically, it costs a surprising amount of money to apply for 501 (c)3 status), tables at events, the products they sell for fundraising, etc. Once enough money is raised to cover their own expenses, they will use any additional funding to start an emergency veterinary fund for rescues.

Items donated for the raffle include Ebooks, artwork, jewelry, magazine subscriptions, collectibles, pet hammocks and pet treats and many more great items. For the rat fanciers, there are stained glass suncatchers shaped like rats, the Rat King from the Nutcracker ballet, handpainted rat wine glasses, kitchen sets and so much more! Non-rattish items include gift certificates for color portraits, stained glass dophin wine wine bottle ornaments, framed prints, soaps and fragrances, chocolates and more!

Raffle tickets are $1 each, and for every 10 tickets purchased, you get a free ticket. Tickets went on sale Feb.1, 2013 and will be sold through March 31, 2013. Winners will be announced April 4, 2013. Tickets can be paid for using PayPal, credit card, check or money order.

The Travelin’ Rat has a number of international fans and did not want to exclude anyone, so international participants are welcome in the raffle! Do be sure to read all descriptions regarding shipping carefully if you live outside of the US.

Take a chance - you might win a great prize and you will definitely be helping pet rescues!
