Richelle Mead's six-book Vampire Academy series is now heading to the big screen, and it's already got a few actors and filmmakers in tow.
As reported by Deadline Hollywood, Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters will be co-financed by Reliance Entertainment and IM Global as an effort to pick on the popularity of both the books and the teen vampire genre at large (a la Twilight and The Vampire Diaries).
Castmembers now attached to star include Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovskiy, and director Mark Waters will helm based on the script by his own brother Daniel Waters of Heathers fame.
Based on Mead's stories of two supernatural young women sent back to St. Vladimir's Academy after two years of escape, the film is the potential series starter for the two financiers.

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school–it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's–the very place where they're most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.
