Among the Christmas gifts received by my bunnies this past December was a festive red fleece bed from West Paws Designs. The bed was cushy, had a very short fleece nap (important for discouraging bunnies who are inclined to chew). The bed was made in – get this – Bozeman, Montana! – with fabric from – get this – North Carolina!! A pet bed actually made in America!
But would the bunnies be pleased?
They were. The bed is quite durable yet very soft. Digging bunnies have yet to tear up the fabric (amazing!), and the bed goes through the washer and dryer like a champ. The bed is thick enough to keep bunnies warm despite a cold hardwood floor, but is lightweight enough that bunnies can arrange the bed in their pen wherever they would like it.And sure enough, while Lord Grantham likes to chew on his fleece pads, he does not chew on the West Paws bed!
West Paws Designs uses non-toxic, top quality fabrics directly from the upholstery and clothing business, not second-hand discards. West Paws Designs even has fabrics manufactured especially for them in order to get just what they need to create top quality beds for pets. West Paw uses materials which are sustainably made in the USA, and utilizes eco-friendly strategies in their manufacturing process. West Paw Design has already given new life to 5.4 million plastic bottles (keeping them out of the landfills) by re-engineering them into their soft and fluffy IntelliLoft fabric (the fabric of the festive red bed).
West Paw beds are tested and certified for safety by Öko-Tex, a 3rd party ecological certifier that rigorously tests every part of the beds for over 100 potentially harmful substances. The beds are tested and certified as comfortable by the bunny bed testing panel at my house.
