Weekend wrap-up: Rain-washed weekend in Richmond, Birmingham

Both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Verizon IndyCar Series were hampered by rain this weekend, but the green flags and checkered flags flew in both series, as well as in the Sprint Cup Series and the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

NASCAR Nationwide Series – Kevin Harvick beat his JR Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott to the checkered flag in the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond International Raceway after a three-hour rain delay pushed back the start of the race. Kyle Busch finished third, followed by Kyle Larson and Brian Scott. Elliott Sadler, Chris Buescher, Regan Smith, Ryan Blaney and James Buescher rounded out the top 10 at Richmond.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – Joey Logano won his second race of the season, taking the checkered flag in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond over Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch. Brad Keselowski and Matt Kenseth finished fourth and fifth, respectively. AJ Allmendinger, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top 10.

NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series – Erica Enders-Stevens picked up her second Pro Stock Wally of the season and first at her home track, Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas (near Houston), site of the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts SpringNationals, on Sunday. Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Robert Hight (Funny Car) earned Wallys as well.

Verizon IndyCar Series – Ryan Hunter-Reay became a back-to-back winner of the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on Sunday, beating his Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti to the checkered flag in the rain-soaked race at Barber Motorsports Park. Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud and Will Power finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Justin Wilson, James Hinchcliffe, Josef Newgarden, Rony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball rounded out the top 10.
