Catawba River Expeditions is a family-owned and operated company.  We are a kayaking, canoeing, tubing family, with decades of experience on the Catawba River.  This is not just a business, it's our lifestyle.  We began this company to share the natural beauty of the area's waters with other families and groups.  We fully support and encourage all efforts to preserve the ecology and beauty of the Catawba River, and strive to maintain practices that minimize any adverse impact to the river.

The Catawba River Canoe and Kayak Trail  begins at the Lake Wylie Dam area in Fort Mill, SC. (Just south of Charlotte, NC and 1 hour north of Columbia, SC.)

The river travels through Rock Hill on it's way south, and provides 29.7 miles of floating fun before the take-out at the SC Hwy. 9 bridge.  This trail includes the beautiful Landsford Canal State Park where the annual Spider Lily Festival is held each Spring, the Catawba Indian Reservation,  and River Park.     The water ranges from deep to shallow, calm to perky, and has tons of boulders just right for a picnic, nap or sunbathing.  The shallow areas are perfect for wading and fishing, or just playing around.

We have seen deer, osprey, otters, geese, duck, and our resident American Bald Eagles!  Fish and wildlife abound on the Catawba, and there's no better way to get out there and see them than on a kayak or canoe.

Nothing says summer like spending time under the sun and on the water with family and friends. The team of experts at My Aloha Paddle and Surf is always ready to get out on the  lake, and they’re welcoming anyone to join who’s looking for a fun new way to stay fit.

Stand up Paddleboarding isn’t new to the surf community. In fact, it’s been around for quite a while.
This unique sport first became popular in Hawaii several decades ago, but it has recently gained more attention over the past several years.

What’s most appealing about this sport is that it allows participants to cultivate healthy lifestyles and have a great time on the water. “Paddleboarding can be as relaxing or as challenging as you want it to be,” says Rob Bennett, My Aloha Paddle and Surf owner, operator, and instructor.  “It can be used as a recreational activity or as a challenging fitness activity.”

Stand up Paddleboarding is something that everyone can enjoy! It is a great family sport and is unique in that people of all ages and skill levels can do it. Stand up Paddleboarding provides mental and physical benefits while enjoying our beautiful lakes.

The Catawba Riverkeeper believes that it is essential to the future of the Catawba River to bring as many people as possible into contact with the Catawba River. People who come into contact with the River will have a greater understanding of the River and care more about protecting the River. Thus, the Catawba Riverkeeper recently began a Youth Kayaking Program and conducts periodic
Eco-Tours in different parts of the Catawba Basin. The Youth Kayaking program was made possible by a grant from REI, which enabled the purchase of 20 kayaks and related equipment.  The Riverkeeper takes groups of youths paddling on the water throughout the summer months.  More information about the Youth Kayaking Program is available at Youth Kayaking River Expedition. The Catawba River Eco-Tours include the Spider Lily Eco-Tour through the world's largest collection of spider lilies in late May or early June, as well as a fall leaf eco-tour. These trips are suitable for all ages and abilities as long as the participants are in reasonably good health. Information about the eco-tours are
