Wanted Wednesday – a service from the Nitro Foundation

The Nitro Foundation, a grassroots advocacy group that has been trying to increase the penalties for animal cruelty cases in Ohio has begun a "WANTED WEDNESDAY" on their Facebook page.

Every Wednesday, they are posting a photo of a person wanted in connection with an animal cruelty/abuse/neglect case, and other unsolved cases.

1. CLEVELAND: Dog shot with arrow.

Do you know the whereabouts of Matthew Jones? (view his photo in the list) There is a warrant issued for his arrest.

Matthew Jones is charged with cruelty to animals, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Henry, a Lab mix, was shot Jan. 26 near his home in the 3800 block of Burger Avenue. Henry's owner, Ricardo Reinoso, let Henry out into his fenced back yard about 5 p.m. Henry jumped the fence and ran off.

Henry returned within minutes with an arrow sticking through his neck and out of his mouth. He died on the front porch.

Patrol officers followed the blood trail to a yard in the 3800 block of Wetzel Avenue, where they found a pool of blood. No one answered the door.

Police then received a tip that led them to charge Jones.

Reinoso's arm was slashed by the hunting arrow when he tried to help his dog. The wound required six stitches.

Anyone with information on Jones is asked to call Second District detectives at 216-623-5200.

2. COLUMBUS: Dog killed during home break-in.

Who killed Shaughnessy? 8-year-old Shaughnessy was a certified therapy dog and former champion show dog. (see his photo in the list) On Monday, Feb 11, his house on the north side of Columbus was broken into and robbed. The perpetrator(s) cut Shaughnessy’s throat, killing him. 3. LORAIN: Dog beaten, starved, and left for dead.

There is an award being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who starved, beat and left a pit bull lying on a tree lawn at 816 West 11th Street in Lorain on December 1.
