![I haven't met anyone who hasn't fallen in love with Bridget Jones. "Bridget Jones's Diary" is a superbly acted and written movie about none other than Bridget Jones. Bridge, as her friends call her, is a single working woman in search of love. Bridget's friends all adore her and see the qualities she has that lie beneath the smoking habits, the drinking and even when she's gained a few extra pounds.Bridget is desperate to locate a man she can call her boyfriend. She quickly falls for her boss, who makes a few inappropriate passes at her through work situations. He takes her on a weekend trip with him and she is in heaven. She feels loved beyond anything she can imagine. After he leaves the weekend trip a bit early and begs her to stay to enjoy herself, she returns home to find him with another woman in his apartment. Not only is the woman in his apartment but she's naked. Not only does she find a naked woman in his apartment but she is so shocked she doesn't get a word out before the woman makes a nasty remark about her weight. Ouch.Defeated and battered, Bridget makes it home to remove her false eyelashes from her weekend costume party and to remove her heart from her throat. She feels betrayed and horrified. Not all is lost, however. We still have the dorky school mate who has shown up to her mother's curry parties donning a horrifying reindeer sweater. The two bash heads through the film. Bridget eventually ends up liking him, only after her ex-boyfriend's tale of "he slept with my wife" proves to be false and actually, the other way around. Bridget finally finds her true love was standing in front of her the whole time. In an ugly reindeer sweater. Perfect Valentine's Day movie. Men seem to get a kick out of this film too. A starving artist, Jack Dawson boards the ship, not knowing he would meet the girl of his dreams. Rose DeWitt Bukater, a rich girl, fall in love and spend time with each other during the travels.As the Titanic enters treacherous waters, the crew is worried. The Titanic collides with a huge iceberg, throwing everyone in harm’s way. We all know the tale of Jack and Rose who end up in the water, only to begin the onset of hypothermia. They find a platform to rest on, with other passengers. The ladies and children climb aboard the makeshift boat but Jack is left without a place. He rides alongside Rose, speaking to her every moment he can. Jack dies while hanging on to the side of the plank, clinging to the final moments he can spend with his true love.The “Titanic” contains so many wonderful actors that the movie was remarkable. The acting, writing, costumes and soundtrack were all brilliantly brought together on the screen. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet bring love to the screen in “Titanic.”Excellent choice in terms of a Valentine’s Day movie.
