There were some highs and lows along the recruiting road for the University of Southern California Trojans as several verbal commitments backed out from their word when it came time to signup. Until then, USC was sitting on top of the recruitment rankings, even with NCAA penalties. However, with that said, the men of Troy have secured 12 recruits that rank higher than any other school in the country.

Every one of these dozen football stars are highly recruited four or five star recruits. In one rating system done by Rivals, the Trojans average-per-recruit sits at 4.42 – every other school in the country is below a 4.0 rating meaning though USC has roughly half the football recruits that most other football clubs have, no one is even close to the superior quality of the Trojans’ 2013 class.

These 12 players are exceptional in every way and at this time, certainly should be considered the ‘Dynamic Dozen’ for this coming year. Here are the 12 signed recruits so far for the 2013 University of Southern California Trojans (listed alphabetically).

  • A 6’1” 194 pound running back from California, he’s a playmaker who’s strong enough to get the tough yards.  Davis is talented enough to play right away but unless the Trojans run into injury issues, he might not play much.  Although he’s enrolled early, don’t be surprised if Justin redshirts his first year.Current running backs like Silas Redd (pictured), will make it difficult for Davis to get on the field.
  • This offensive lineman out of California is 6’4” 267 pounds and very athletic for his position.  Falah will play tackle but currently USC looks firm at the position.  Nicoh will likely redshirt and work on filling out his size but keep an eye on this solid player in the years to come as he has the look of a star.  Depth on the offensive line including Marcus Martin & Aundrey Walker (both pictured) are what make redshirting an easier decision for Falah.
  • From California, he’s listed at 5’11” 170 pounds and though the defensive back may not appear big, he plays big.  The hard-hitter is an early enrollee and that extra time in the spring may be enough for the speedy cornerback to earn a starting position.   Hawkins is also a playmaker so don’t be surprised to see him on special teams.And when you consider a guy like Nickell Robey (pictured) forgoing his senior season, Hawkins could be playing sooner rather than later.
  • He’s a linebacker from California and is 6’2” 210 pounds.  Hutchings can hit hard yet has quickness to get from sideline to sideline; and, that ability will allow him to play any linebacking position in the 3-4.  Michael probably won’t redshirt but instead will be worked into the rotation as the season progresses.It just that breaking into a lineup that includes juniors Hayes Pullard and Dion Bailey (#10 & #18 pictured) -- well, getting onto the field may be tough for Hutchings.
  • The big running back is 6’3” 215 pounds and comes from Illinois with the prospects of being a big name for the Trojans in the years ahead.  A tough guy to tackle, Isaac’s talent will probably keep him from redshirting but it will be awhile for him to work into any decent playing time.  Ty is a potential superstar in waiting.When you combine the fact that Curtis McNeal (pictured) has graduated and Isacc is a big strong body, makes for increasing chances that the kid from Illinois will be playing in 2013.
  • He’s listed at 6’2” 185 pounds and is out of Florida.  A playmaking defensive back, McQuay will likely work in at the safety position and could battle for playing time his freshman season.  He’s already enrolled which gives him an edge for possibly a starting position at some time during the year. Plus, with multiple starters gone from the defensive backfield including safety Jawanza Starling (pictured), it's not beyond the realm of possibilities that McQauy will play a lot in 2013.
  • The Californian is a 5’10” 176 pound wide receiver.  Mitchell is quick and may work into some playing time during the season.  Steven also has superb playmaking skills to go along with return capabilities and could see the field in a variety of ways.Especially with Robert Woods (pictured) leaving for the NFL, Mitchell may end up being the third receiver for the men of Troy.
  • At 6’2” 190 pounds, the Florida linebacker is one decommit from another school (Florida) that USC grabbed away.  Powell can hit and yet has excellent quickness so he’ll fit nicely at outside linebacker in the 3-4.  Whether Quinton gets a chance to play early is still up for grabs but could end up redshirting in 2013.Certainly with playmaking ballhawks like Dion Bailey (pictured) on the field, 2014 looks like a better fit for Powell.
  • The offensive lineman from Maryland is 6’3” and 300 pounds.  One of the best interior prep lineman in the country, Rodgers should push for playing time his freshman year and might even be considered for a starting position at center or guard.  He could end up as a four-year starter.And also, don't be surprised if Rodgers ends up being another superstar lineman like Khaled Holmes (pictured) was until graduating this year.
