A gradual change in the weather pattern is expected as we close out the work week and head into the weekend. A number of weather systems may play a role in the weather across the Capital Region, beginning with a frontal system approaching the region the west and northwest today. Clouds will be slowly on the increase through the day as they stream in ahead of a warm front that looks to pass through the area tomorrow. Showers may accompany this feature tomorrow, along with daytime high temperatures that will be running as much as 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages.
Unsettled, warmer, and slightly more humid air looks to invade the region for the weekend, along with the threat for some scattered showers from time to time. A more pronounced chance for rainfall does not look to occur until Sunday evening, as a cold front approaches the region. In addition, a tropical system, currently over the Caribbean Sea and southeastern Gulf of Mexico, is forecast to become entrained within the approaching cold front. This scenario may bring the potential for a more soaking rainfall early next week.
