Are you looking for romantic date suggestions? If so, you're looking in the wrong place. I'm highlighting the best of the Atlanta underground club scene this Valentine's Day weekend. Would I suggest you take a date to any of these events? Sure, as long as your date is awesome!
Every February 14, both couples and singles are pressured to make special plans for the holiday. Luckily, this year the date occurs on a Friday, and even luckier, there are several awesome events happening this weekend. And, after a week of being cooped up and iced in, everyone is going to be ready to get out and have a good time.
From a special weekend concert performance of "Dracula: The Rock Opera," to great club events like Secretroom's Burton Valentine's Party and Nocturnia: Post Valentine's, occurring this Friday and Saturday, respectively. Friday night will also offer Area 51 Presents the 5th Annual B My Furry Valentine.

5th Annual B My Furry Valentine
When: Friday, February 14; 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Where: MetroPlex Atlanta; 1959 Metropolitan Parkway, SW, Atlanta, 30315
What: For the fifth year in a row, Area 51 Presents is throwing the B My Furry Valentine party. The event celebrates faux fur and club fashion, aerial and flow arts, amazing visuals and 3D video mapping, and of course, great electronic music. There will be four rooms of music featuring a ton of stellar DJs--check out the Facebook event page for the full lineup. There will also be body painting, vendors, and a faux fur fashion show. And since the event will take place at MetroPlex, there will also be roller skating and bouncy houses!
How much: $20 advance online (available until 4 p.m. on 2/14/14) or $30 at the door. 18 and up.
Secretroom's Burton Valentine's Ball
When: Friday, February 14; 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Where: Jungle Atlanta; 2115 Faulkner Rd NE, Atlanta, 30324
What: Secretroom and Costume Club are hosting a Tim Burton-themed Valentine's Ball this Friday at Jungle. It will be a night of dark beauty, with performances from stage to ceiling. Burlesque numbers will be performed by Vita DeVoid of Tampa as Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas) and Lyn Sky of Orlando as Snakey on Stilts (also from Nightmare Before Christmas), and aerial performances will come from Hydra Atl and Vivian Kyle. At 1 a.m., there will be a costume contest with $100 prize for Best Overall Tim Burton Character. At 2 a.m., things will really soar with a suspension show from Skindicate Suspension Crew. There will also be an artshow and vendors. DJ Jennocide and VJ Anthony will spin.
How much: $10 until midnight; $15 after. February birthdays get in free all night long! Free parking. 18 and up.
Dracula: The Concert & CD Release Party
When: Friday, February 14 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, February 15 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
Where: 7 Stages; 1105 Euclid Ave, Atlanta, 30307
What: A little more than a year after the very successful first run, "Dracula: The Rock Opera" is back for one weekend only as "Dracula: The Concert." This will be a concert version of the rock opera that ran at 7 Stages from September to October in 2012. Fans of the rock opera created by Rob Thompson, Naomi Lavender, Sam McPherson, and Chris Love, have waited patiently to hear all of their favorite songs again, and now the wait is finally over; the event is being held in conjunction with the soundtrack CD release party! Can't make it to this special one weekend only show? CD will also be available for sale at Java Lords or online at CD Baby for $25.

NOCTURNIA: Post Valentine's Cardiac Ablation Party
When: Saturday, February 15, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Where: The Masquerade; 695 North Ave NE, Atlanta 30308
What: Atlanta's premier goth/industrial dance night is back and at a new venue. This Saturday, Nocturnia will host the Post Valentine's Cardiac Ablation Party in Hell at The Masquerade. DJs Aesthetic and Moz will spin will spin goth/industrial music all night long. There will also be a give-away for two pairs of tickets to the upcoming VNV Nation show at The Masquerade on May 16.
How much: $10; 18 and up.
