Try a different take on the mint julep and mimosa this KY Derby weekend

Basil Hayden’s® Jockey’s Julep
http://www.basilhaydens.com

The greatest two minutes in sports entertainment will be here in just a few days and everyone knows the favorite drink of the KY Derby is the mint julep. Mint juleps and the KY Derby have gone hand and hand since 1938. For those who won't be able to make it to Churchill Downs, this is the perfect opportunity to serve up some authentically different mint juleps and KY inspired cocktails.

The traditional mint julep takes on a twist courtesy of Basil Hayden's® and Knob Creek® whom have both created their versions of it as well as some other KY inspired drinks. The Basil Hayden'®s Jockey Julep which was created by Rob Floyd of Los Angeles, CA, takes the mint julep recipe and adds a twist with pineapple juice and blueberries. Knob Creek® adds a tropical twist to their mint julep recipe by adding both pineapple juice and honey.

To celebrate the great state of KY try the Basil Hayden's® Bluegrass Punch. Somewhat similar to the Jockey Julep it also incorporates blueberries into it but also passion fruit juice. Sweet tea is probably the most preferred drink of Kentuckians and Knob Creek® adds spice to the sweet with Zac Mathhews' recreation of the sweet tea called the Knob Creek® Sweet & Spicy Tea. For a fresh and different take on the mimosa to start off your KY Derby Day brunch try a Knob Creek® Mimosa that uses apple cider instead of orange juice.

With these five recipes, your KY Derby weekend celebration will definitely stand out and who knows? You may just find an new way to celebrate KY everyday! For recipes just click through the list and tell me what are you plans for the KY Derby weekend? Leave a comment and let's discuss!
