‘Triunfo’ is triumph and success at the 16th Annual Triunfo Awards April 6

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County has the tradition of recognizing the “best and the brightest” within the county’s student population by providing scholarships through the generous donations of its business members.

The winners of the 2013 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Triunfo! Scholarships are:

Lorena Benitez, Atlantic High School

Julia McBee, Dreyfoos School of the Arts

Jairo Garcia, Pahokee High School

Karen Herrera, Jupiter High School

Brian Higuera, Boca Raton High School

Gabryelle Estrada, Inlet Grove High School

Sofia Montes, Boca Raton High School

Alondra Cortes, Pahokee High School

The translation from Spanish to English of the word "Triunfo" is triumph, victory or success. Just the right words to explain the “best and the brightest” within the county’s Hispanic population. The students selected have an outstanding Grade Point Average (GPA), dedicated many hours to community service and demonstrated excellent academic and leadership skills. In short, these are students that triumph to victory successfully.

The winners of the Triunfo! Scholarship will attend the 16th Annual Triunfo! Awards banquet that will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

“Not only does the future of our community depend on the quality of professionals we have, but also the ones we educate to become leaders who will create a better future,” said Andre Varona, Chief Executive Officer.

In the last six years, the Hispanic Chamber has raised over $82,000.00 for students who have gone on to universities such as Harvard, Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, and many other prestigious colleges and universities. The students selected have an outstanding Grade Point Average (GPA), dedicated many hours to community service and demonstrated excellent academic and leadership skills.

The following was taken from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce website:

Your Hispanic Chamber has been evolving over the last several years and now stands ready to serve you at a much higher level and wider range than ever before.

We have always been a strong networking organization with our monthly Café con Leches and Program Luncheons, along with quarterly Power Networking and our Annual Signature Events, Triunfo! Gala Awards and “Annual Golf Classic”. Last year we also added New Member Orientation and Business Seminar Programs, plus our very first “Latin American Food & Wine Festival.” Each of these initiatives were designed to foster and enhance the economic interests and quality of life in Palm Beach County, as well as create an opportunity for business leaders to network, connect and strengthen relationships.

The Hispanic Chamber has created a strategic plan to establish ourselves as not only the voice of the Hispanic business community, but as a gateway to connect Hispanic business with mainstream business in Palm Beach County and beyond.

As our Hispanic influence continues to grow, we must strive to be a resource for information, advocacy, business and economic development, education and training and cost savings for all who seek opportunities in this vibrant, exciting and diverse area we know and love as Palm Beach County.
