Eunice’s also offers various salads and sandwiches on their menu, and for mothers with young children Eunice’s offers a High Chair Plate consisting of three side items for children three and under at the absolute low price of FREE!!! There is not a better bargain in Fort Smith for a young child to eat. The only draw back is that Eunice’s is only open from 10:30 AM until 3:30 PM which nixes breakfast and dinner. They feature a menu where every item is under ten dollars. The menu ranges from traditional hamburgers, sandwiches and homemade soups, salad, and chili, so there is plenty to choose from. Try a Cottage Croissant which consists of Grilled Ham or Turkey with Swiss Cheese on a croissant that is also grilled for only $5.95 or a Cottage Chili Size which is a chili burger served open-faced on a grilled bun and smothered with chili and cheese and onions if desired for only $6.95. The most expensive item is a half pound of all white meat fried chicken which retails for $8.95. Brother’s also offers slices of homemade pies for only $2.99. Benson’s offers sandwiches, salads and soups at bargain prices, and some South of the Border dishes which won’t break the bank. Customers with big appetites need only to try Mamma’s Mexican Surprise which is a plate full of nacho chips, covered with cheese, seasoned beef, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Well the economy is supposed to be back on track according to the “experts,” but does that mean it’s time to completely loosen the purse strings and hit Red Lobster or Outback Steakhouse? Unless your last name is Kennedy or Rockefeller the answer is probably no. However that doesn’t mean people have to resort to (gasp!) eating in to keep to their tightened budget. The Fort Smith area has several restaurants that offer quality dining at bargain prices (and no that does not mean fast food either). These restaurants are moderately priced so they should be able to accommodate most budgets, and the best part is these restaurants do not skimp on portions. These restaurants all serve meals that offer adult-size portions, so no one will have to worry about going home hungry. Since there are so many restaurants to choose from, this examiner will focus on the top five restaurants in Fort Smith for budget -conscious diners. These restaurants will offer customers a great meal without busting the family's budget.

  •  George’s is a budget-friendly diner with a Mediterranean flair. George’s is located at 2120 Grand Ave in Fort Smith, and is operated by Alex Catsavis. George’s is open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves hamburgers that price from $4.75 for a regular hamburger to $6.95 for a Big George (which offers triple meat, hence the name). George’s also offers regular sandwiches which are priced from $2.95 to $5.25 and pocket sandwiches (served in Pita Bread) which retail for $5.45. George’s also serves authentic Greek cuisine. Diners who want to sample something different can try a Greek Salad for $6.25, or Greek Chicken or Spaghetti for $9.75, and of course the famous Gyro for only $5.45.   • Lewis’ is located at 5901 Highway 71 South across from the Wal-Mart Super Center on Zero St in Fort Smith. Lewis’ offers quality breakfast and lunch items at recession-friendly prices. Pick up Steak and Eggs for only $8.29 (one egg, $8.59 for two eggs) or a Western Omelet for only $6.89. Lunch prices are also reasonable. Deluxe Hamburgers cost $4.29 and a Chicken Fried Steak for only $6.99. Lewis’ offers sandwiches, soups, salads, and a full children’s menu at very reasonable prices.
