These are the Democrat Senators most vulnerable to defeat in 2014, in the case of four of the five, they are seats likely identified by Republicans as seat they can win in their effort to regain majority control of the United States Senate after the 2014 elections. Most of these senator are vulnerable to defeat because they were elected in Republican-leaning states are are becoming more Republican in their voting patterns in recent elections. If Republicans can win four of these five senate seats, they stand a good chance of winning control of the senate.
One of the senators here is not subject to Republican takeover chances, because he comes from a heavily Democratic state, but due to unique circumstances and an odd sex scandal of his own, he faces a very real possibility of being defeated in a primary challenge.
All five of them are running for reelection and are more likely than not, to no longer be senators next year.
