Well, being the last day of the year it’s that time of year again, time for all of the so called “best of” and top 10, 20 or 100 lists.
While there are even “worst of” lists: from worst dressed, to worst hairdos, and biggest flops of the year, they are all subjective- just someone's opinions.
So, with that in mind I offer a list of the top pictures of the year that I took which has been featured in my reviews over the past year.
They are in no order at all, because let's face it, no one introduces their children by who they like the best. No, these are not children (don't send me hate-mail), but seeing as I have no children my photography is my legacy and what I create. Each year I have created new moments of joy for someone. While I am sure there are others who can't stand my work, I as an artist am proud of what I have accumulated and accomplished.
There are many fine photographers out there and you should check them all out. No, I will not bash another photogs' work, ever, as we are all on different levels; some beginners, some advanced, but all artists nonetheless. A great majority of us don't make any money off of the photos we take (mysef included), in fact it costs most of us more than we do make but we do it for the sheer love of the craft, the excitement of the crowd and the reactions we get from people who enjoy our work. (Yes, we do love to hear from people!)
And the same goes for the musical artists that provide the opportunity for photographers like myself to get the shots we want (or at least attempt them). And for that I say thank you to each and every musician who made the list or not. Whithout you there is no top list.
Personally, I started shooting concerts professionally in 1990 and each year has provided something new, something different and something unique. I am hoping I keep getting surprised by new things next year and the years to come, along with discovering new music and meeting new friends.
With over 700 photos from which to choose from in my column I have whittled it down to my favorite 21 (Primarily because that is what we are limited to).
I would love to hear from you telling me what shots you would have included in this list, or what shots in the list you would not have included. Check out some of the reviews the pics came from through the links below. Scan my reviews to come up with your own list. Either way, I hope you had a rockin’ 2013 and here’s to an even better 2014. \m/
