The United States Supreme Court decision declaring Section 3 of DOMA unconstitutional was clearly a great victory for marriage equality. However, declaring Section 3 unconstitutional with nothing more does not automatically clarifies and changes everything. What’s more, it could, and it is making everything even more complicated. It is being only two months since the Supreme Court made its decision, and the implications of the ruling have only begun to appear, showing confusion and uncertainty about all the possible consequences of almost every possible legal scenario. The domino effect and current storm of lawsuits that were unleashed after the Supreme Court ruling are certainly producing a series of decisions with legal effects, which makes it imperative for everyone to know and understand what is happening and where we stand with regard to the protection of our rights.
