Day one of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 is underway. Ten collections are being shown today ending early at six this evening with the Art Institutes show. However, right now I am focusing on the shows that got things started.
The morning shows featuring Nicholas K, David Tlale, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Richard Chai are over. One thing I noticed is that black is trying to make a strong comeback in New York for next spring. While I am not fond of black being a dominant color for spring, you cannot deny the inherent sexiness and sophistication that black possesses.
Do not count color out. Splashes of yellow caught the eye at BCBGMAXAZRIA. While a vibrant display of poppy red made it feel more like spring at Richard Chai. Prints are not as extravagant as in seasons past with a good mix of light florals and stripes. So, which designs were the best from this morning? Check out this list and find out.
