Jacksonville's music scene can feel a bit antiquated when searching for concerts to attend. The city's largest entertainment venue, The Florida Theatre, showcases artists suited for older generations or families, like Michael Bolton and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, along with several comedians. While these types of shows draw in a large demographic of north Florida, they certainly do not appeal to an indie music or hip hop fan. Luckily, there are numerous smaller venues booking artists relevant to a younger crowd. On the other hand, as a result of these popular artists performing in small venues, tickets sell out fast. Fans of newer music must plan ahead in this city, or else they will most certainly miss out on these shows. This list serves as a guide to these venues, giving you an idea of where to look for upcoming shows in these genres, as well as a diverse line-up of artists performing in and around Jacksonville in March of 2014. You can also check out Jax Live for an extensive calendar of performances at several of the venues around town.
