Gravity reigns as the number one box office movie as of Oct. 12, according to IMDb.com, with $55.8 million in ticket sales thus far. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 is in second place, bringing in $21 million overall and Runner Runner takes the third spot for movies at the box office with ticket sales of $7.7 million.
A real-life astronaut weighed in on how realistic Gravity was when compared to life on a space station thanks to a National Geographic interview with Roberta Bondar, Canada's first female astronaut. And her comments highlight why audiences are loving this particular movie.
Spoiler alert: Bondar emphasized that Sandra Bullock did a great job in her role, and that she thought Bullock "succeeded in capturing how physiologically difficult it would be to climb out and walk away," in one of the closing scenes of the movie.
