In some of the pictures, people can see the eyes of the pigs staring right at the lens and not just their image got captured, but also their soul. McArthur is the author of We Animals, and subject of the award winning documentary filmed by Liz Marshall: The Ghosts In Our Machine. McArthur was recently in the United States taking pictures of the more than 1,000 freed chickens and in Canada taking pictures of the rescue of 90 dogs from a breeding facility in Montreal,Quebec.
This vigil was significantly important due to the collaboration of Kathy Stevens founder of Catskill Animal Sanctuary. Her sanctuary is one of America’s leading heavens for farmed animals. She is also author of the critically and commercially acclaimed book Animal Camp: Reflections on a Decade of Love, Hope, and Veganism at Catskill Animal Sanctuary. Stevens donated 200 copies of her book and she handed them out to passersby in hopes of opening hearts and minds to a compassionate lifestyle.
