Although this wasn't an outstanding year in the way of horror film releases, there were a number of notable entries that make up this year's ten best. We saw a bevy of found footage horror, most of which were tired and derivative with only a few exceptions such as "V/H/S/2" and "Frankenstein's Army." The standouts this year were the independent releases, which turned out to be far more unique and original than any of the bigger productions. "Resolution," "Jug Face," and "The Battery" taught us that one can make an interesting and creepy film on a smaller budget.
Here are this year's top picks for horror films.
