Look at your Facebook news feed on a Thursday and you'll see countless "Throwback Thursday" posts. Instagram, Twitter and other social networking users pick Thursday's for sharing photos from their past. In one day you can see the worst 7th grade poodle perms, nightmarish fashion faux-pas and inebriated college pics that your neighbor down the street has floating around. You think that's bad, just wait until you get tagged in some ancient photo that you'd just as soon forget.
But "Throwback Thursday" can be a great thing. Just ask the good sports who contributed to this story.
I asked people involved in animal rescue and animal welfare to send me photos and stories of the special animals that started it all for them. Each photo is a dog or cat who is responsible for changing the life of a human. For the first installment of a 4-part series called "Throw-bark Thursday", we will take a look at the pets that made people go into animal rescue. Everyone involved in rescue can remember that one dog or cat who touched their life. This Thursday, we honor those furry heroes, the ones that made us cry, the ones that changed the world, one human at a time.
Next week's installment (October 24th) will be dedicated to "First Pets". Want to have your pet included? Send a photo and your info by clicking here. Photo submissions will only be used for the purpose of October 24th's "Throw-bark Thursday": First Pets. Only the first 25 submissions will be used so act fast if you want to be a part of the fun!
