This weekend events for German shepherd around the country

See also

It’s the weekend, time for the various German shepherd rescues around the country to hold events to make those in the community aware of their needs. They offer information and other educational literature for their rescue and this noble breed.

Many of the rescues bring dogs that are available, for fostering or forever homes, along for the public to meet. The dogs enjoy your attention on these outings. Stop by and visit one of these events and make a homeless dog smile.

If you know of a German shepherd rescue in your area I haven't listed please comment below or email me at the address shown, so I can include them in coming weeks. The rescues can use all the help we can give.

ROCKY
Hi! My name is Rocky and I am three years old. My foster mom and dad say that I am a gentle giant. I am a very happy dog with a great temperament. I am a really good boy and I listen very well. I like it when you talk to me -- I will look at you with my big brown eyes and wag my big tail with joy at the sound of your voice.

From Rocky's Foster Family: We are looking for someone who is committed to taking him for daily walks and making time to play with him outside in an adequately-sized yard. The time to walk him and play with him in a backyard is essential. He really loves going for walks, playing with toys, and spending time with his people. We are also asking that his adoptive family be willing to take him with them on "adventures" - out to restaurants, to the pet store, Home Depot, and anywhere else dogs are allowed. He is so friendly that it would be a disservice to him if he wasn't allowed to meet new people and spread his joy with everyone.

Adoption
Saturday, April 12, 2014 11am - 2pm
Encinitas Town Center near PetSmart
1034 North El Camino Real Encinitas, CA 92024

A.J. joined Rescue a couple of months ago after spending some time in a public shelter.

He was found as a stray and several calls to the number listed on his microchip were not answered so A.J. was left to languish alone.  We rescued him and A.J.'s fortune changed from bad to good.

After joining Rescue, we learned that A.J. had testicular cancer which meant he had lost most of his hair.  Surgery to remove the tumor was successful and he had no metastases to worry about.  A.J. is recovering nicely!

Sampson
My name is Sampson and I am looking for my forever home. I had a tough life before GSHR found me, but now I am healthy and ready to find my pack leader, my foster Mom says everyone else would call a pack leader a Mom or Dad, but I need a leader so that is what I'm asking for.

I need a strong leader to follow and set clear but fair rules for me. Current Age: 4 Years 6 Months (best estimate)

TAYLOR
Female,: 6 years (d.o.b. 11/2007)
Taylor and her sister Katie were surrendered to us as their former family no longer had time for them. Taylor is a very sweet girl; she enjoys the company of other dogs and is good with children and everyone she meets. Taylor is laid back and well mannered. If you are looking for a dog that is past all of the youngster antics, enjoys going for leisurely walks, some playtime, lots of cuddles and just hanging out with you then you should ask to meet Taylor

SOUTHEAST GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE

NO EVENTS SHOWN THIS WEEKEND

Meet Millie! She's a young sable girl with a little mix of something in her that makes her coat super, super soft and gives one of her eyes a unique blue pigment. She's a petite girl, very sweet, and is great with cats and other dogs (once she has a few minutes to warm up to them). We're not sure about kids, but she is a gentle girl, so we think she would do fine once she learns to not jump up for "hugs". Current Age: 1 Year 2 Months (best estimate)

Millie is completely housebroken, crate trained, and very cuddly. She's looking for a family to build her confidence just a little bit, hopefully through some training that will also help her with her basics.

Millie is being fostered in Harrison burg, VA.

DONATIONS DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR FRITZ:

VGSR recently rescued Fritz, who suffered a severe injury to his two front legs after jumping out of a second story window to help a family member in distress.

Unfortunately, the family could not provide the care Fritz needed and turned him over to VGSR.

He will be having surgery this week, which is estimated to cost over $6000.00 (with a rescue discount). The surgeon is going to fuse the joints in his feet and install a plate. He is going to have a twelve week initial recovery period with therapy afterwards.

Please help out if you can. Every $1 helps and this dog deserves to be whole again.

Join us for Westside’s Spring fundraising event.

The 2nd Annual
"A Shepherd Sunday"
Picnic Fundraiser on June 8th at Liongate Manor in Pasadena.

We also need donations for the silent auction and raffle baskets. If you have new items that you would like to donate for the silent auction, please contact Lorilynn Failor at: braile02@gmail.com

More info will follow.

Luna von Lunz is a stunning 3 year old long haired German Shepherd -- a big fluff ball with a very soft coat, almost looking like a baby cub. This gorgeous girl was part of a big pack of 12 dogs. She lived freely at a ranch with all her buddies. She is still getting used to city life. Luna is a bit shy at first; being with another furry friend makes her feel more confident.

Luna is such a happy, playful girl once she adjusts to a new environment. Even though she is currently a bit heavy, she does enjoys hiking, walking and running; we know she will be slim and trim in no time (under that luxurious coat of hair).
