When people think of pet adoption, they usually think of dogs and cats. There are also rescue / adoption centers for horses. But there are some animals seeking homes that are not dogs, or cats, or horses.

Here are some unusual animals seeking new, forever homes in the Tennessee area. Some have scales, some have curly tails, some have wings. They all have one thing in common: they need a loving home.

Ollie the Macaw

Ollie is a 7 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. If he's especially interested in someone he's meeting for the first time, he will come over and say "Hi! How are you?" Ollie eats a good diet of fresh foods and he loves having fabulous toys to play with.  Like many birds, Ollie enjoys most of his interactions to be hands-off, but he's all about having fun! Charlotte the Potbelly Pig

Charlotte is an adult potbelly pig. She is intact and needs to be kept on a diet until she loses some more weight. She loves people but when first meeting is a little shy. She'd make the perfect companion to someone who has one or more pet pigs. She is being kept outside but believed to have been a house pig. Call Forgotten Angels Rescue 931-863-2202.

Levi the Mini Donkey

A 2 year old Mini Donkey, 5hh, gelded, Levi is a smooth coated, grey mini gelding. He adores butt scratches, and having the side of his face rubbed. He'll look up and stare into your eyes that just say he wants love. He does not bite or kick. His demeanor is so calm and collected that he should be able to be trained into whatever discipline (appropriate for a mini donkey) that his adopter wants to take him in. See

Squiggy the Iguana

Iguana Squiggy is very protective of his habitat and will tail smack an unwary hand. Once out, he calms down fairly quickly. He is very fast. As of 8/18/12 he measured 34 inches long. There is a $75 rehoming fee and an adoption process that includes a home visit to insure proper habitat. Tanks and light kits must be obtained and set up prior to taking possession.
